Prof.(Dr.) Soosan J Panicker B.Sc. (Engg.), M.E, Ph.D, FIE, Ch. joined Bishop Jerome Institute which hosts three institutions namely School of Engineering, School of Management and School of Architecture as Principal in the year 2015. She had graduated in Civil Engineering in 1979 from TKM College of Engineering. Kollam, and post graduated in Environmental Engineering from College of Engg., Guindy campus of Anna University in 1985 and secured Doctorate in Civil Engg. from University of Kerala in 2012. After graduation she joined TKMCE as Lecturer in Department of Civil Engineering in 1981 and retired as Professor in 2014. She has 33 years of teaching experience in TKMCE during which, she held various positions such as PG Coordinator, Head of the Civil Engg. Department, Co-ordinator of the Building Valuation Project of M/s KMML, Technical expert to KPSC and Kollam Corporation. She had served the Kerala University as Chairperson of Board of Examiners for B.Tech Degree Examinations and also served as member Faculty of Engg. & Technology, Board of Studies Member of UG Program in Engineering and Board of Studies Member of Environmental Science. She has lifetime membership in various professional bodies such as ISTE, MIPHE, IWA, Fellow of Institution of Engineers India & Chartered Engineer. She had authored ten papers in national/ international conferences and an international journal paper in Water Science & Technology. She had convened ICMSC 2011 and was the Co-ordinator of ICMSC 2013 at TKMCE. She had conducted Orientation programme in Waste Management and was the keynote speaker of the short term training programme in ‘Water Resource Management - Present uses, status conservation and co-operation of energy conservation of built environment’ sponsored by UGC and conducted by Bishop Moore College, Mavelikara. She had also chaired many National conferences convened by the Engineering Colleges.
After retiring from TKMCE in 2014, she joined M/s Valia Koonambaikulathamma College of Engineering & Technology as Professor and Head of Department of Civil Engineering and served for one year.
Regarding her Ph.D :- A collaborated project with NIIST, Thiruvananthapuram and a case study done in a US Patented unit (US Patent 6592751) Buoyant Filter Bio-Reactor and proved that the BFBR can be used for treating complex waste very efficiently so that further treatment is not required before disposal.
