Mechanical Engineering is one of the broadest and the most unique engineering disciplines. All the engineering disciplines such as Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering have their roots of origin in Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical Engineering deals with the solutions of a wide spectrum of problems which cover the two broad areas namely Mechanical Systems and Thermal Systems. The domain of Mechanical Systems include design of mechanisms, analysis of strength and wear of materials etc. The main areas of interest of Thermal engineering are energy conservation methods, heat transfer and fluid flow. Department of Mechanical Engineering has been playing a leading role in imparting technical and reasoning aptitudes to students of BJI, apart from guiding them to excel in academics. The department offers 4 year B.Tech Degree Programme in Mechanical Engineering with an annual intake of 60 students. The department has well equipped laboratories with latest equipments of high quality. The department makes use of the technical facilities including workshops and laboratories in teaching and setting up of in-house experimental setups. Latest computing techniques are used in Mechanical Engineering Motion and Deformation Studies. Lab experiments are conducted to observe the behavior of different systems under varying operating conditions.
The latest computing techniques are used in Mechanical Engineering Motion and Deformation Studies in three dimensional cases to Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing. Class assignments include design software to create virtual prototypes and the use of stress analysis software to evaluate alternative design. Lab experiments are conducted to observe the behavior of different system under varying operating conditions.
